REMEMBER:
Only you can prevent forest fires
SOME IMPORTANT FIRE SAFETY TIPS
Test your smoke detector regularly. If it does not work, repair it immediately...
- Establish an escape plan and ensure that all family members know where to go and have two (2) ways out in the event of a fire. Practice your escape plan with your family. And remember... in a fire, if you have to escape through smoke, stay low, crawl on your hands and knees. Smoke and heat rise, so cleaner cooler air is near the floor.
- If your fire alarm activates, call the fire department immediately. Do not reset your fire alarm until the fire department arrives. The fire department can assist you with finding and correcting a potential problem in the alarm system that may save your life.
- If a fire or smoke condition occurs in your home or business, call the fire department immediately. Any hesitation could have devastating effects. The fire department is equipped with not only fire suppression equipment, but gas detectors, thermal imaging camera's, high-volume ventilation fans, and a variety of other tools.
- All homes should be equipped with carbon monoxide (CO) detectors. If your CO detector activates, call the fire department. DO NOT disconnect it and assume it is a false alarm. CO injures and kills thousands of people each year. For more information on CARBON MONOXIDE (CO), click here.
- DO NOT park in designated FIRE LANES or FIRE ZONES. Also do not obstruct fire hydrants and fire protection devices. The fire department has found obstructions to these areas is becoming a large problem. Help us to help you...
- CANDLES are responsible for thousands of structural fires each year. Keep candles away from paper and other easily ignitable materials. Keep out of reach of children, and do not leave unattended.
If your clothes catch fire, remember...
STOP ~ DROP ~ ROLL
